PHRF of the Chesapeake, Inc., Official Valid Listing of Ratings

The official PHRF Valid List presents the official valid rating, and effective date, for individual boats with current ratings issued by PHRF of the Chesapeake.   Individual valid ratings are effective on the valid date shown for each boat.  The listing will be updated weekly until  the end of the racing season, usually around the beginning of November, and is valid only for the date listed above, as boats ratings may be changed, added or deleted on a daily basis.   If a boat is not on the current valid list, it does NOT have a valid rating as of the date above.

    Each boat on the Valid List is provided either a spinnaker rating (VRTG on the list), a non-spinnaker rating (NSRTG on the list) or both ratings (VRTG and NSRTG).   RCs are reminded that boats racing in non-spinnaker classes (PHRF N) should have a NSRTG on the Valid List and be scored using only the NSRTG.  Similarly, boats in spinnaker classes (PHRF A0, A1, A2, A, B, or C) should have a VRTG on the Valid List and be scored using only the VRTG.  Boats should NOT race in the NS class using a VRTG, nor should boats race in spinnaker classes using a NSRTG.   If the Valid List shows only one rating (either VRTG or NSRTG) that boat should race only in the class (spinnaker or NS) for which the rating is provided.

       The official valid list is sorted by SAIL NUMBER (text order) to enable RCs to find valid ratings quickly and easily.   If you find this cumbersome, try using the Acrobat search tool (binoculars on Acrobat Reader tool bar) to find boats by class, boat name, sail number, or other listed criteria.   The list may be downloaded for RC use in local scoring programs, however be advised that ratings will be added, and/or changed on a weekly basis.   The RC is strongly encouraged to update ratings from this page as the official Valid List is updated each week.  The Valid List is to be used to verify an individual boat's rating, and valid date, and should not be used to establish ratings for any other boats not listed.     If you have any questions about ratings published on the Valid List, or do not see a rating for a boat you believe may have a valid rating, please call 410-414-3270.

      If you require a PHRF rating for your boat, follow the directions for obtaining a Valid Rating and completing the Application Forms.     All ratings applications for new (to PHRF of the Chesapeake) classes of boats will require a review by our board of handicappers.  Please submit your PHRF application three to four weeks in advance of the entry deadline for the PHRF events to ensure you receive your valid rating certificate in time to submit your race entry forms.
