Fixed Propeller Rating Credit Request
Beginning in 1999, PHRF of the Chesapeake, Inc, has provided that yacht owners/skippers may request credits for yachts equipped with fixed bladed propellers. This information is required in addition to that, which is to be provided on the application/renewal forms.To be eligible for rating credit, propellers must be of fixed design, with no folding or feathering mechanisms. The required information (see below) must be provided with the request for credit, and is in addition to checking the proper block on the renewal or application forms. This information is required by the Board of Handicappers to assess an individual yachts propeller, and propeller installation, for approval of rating credit. 1. Description, line drawing, diagram, and/or picture of propeller installation
2. Type installation (Aperture or exposed)
3. Number of blades
4. Diameter of propeller (in inches)
5. Pitch of propeller (in inches)
6. Minimum distance (EXP) from prop to trailing edge of keel in decimal ft.
7. Length of exposed shaft (SHAFT) from hull exit to hub of propeller in decimal ft.
Guidelines for rating credits on Fixed Bladed Propellers
These recommended guidelines are provided for various propeller installations for use by the Board of Handicappers. Propeller credits will be assigned on a case by case basis by the Board of Handicappers, and may vary from these guidelines, depending upon specific type of propeller and installation details. Types of propellers and installations other than listed below will be reviewed on an individual basis upon receipt of application and required propeller information.
